I have a few uniforms this winter, even though the season has only just begun (and it's a mild one so far), all variations on a theme. Somehow I've little patience anymore for being cold. I used to wear flats in cold weather and just let my feet be a little bit frozen if I was just hopping in the car to go to work, but this year I pile on the socks with a vengeance. My skirts are longer and wool, sometimes I'll wear two sweaters at once, and suddenly I'm interested in muted colors. Like the outfit below, and in this one, I've been shying away from brighter colors in recent weeks. I might just be armoring up for the winter I know is coming (for the record, I don't watch Game of Thrones, but I know that's some sort of reference).

Skirt: Thrifted, Sweater: Charter Club circa 2010, Shirt: J. Crew, Boots: Nine West circa 2006
I also really need to get myself a remote. It's dreadful taking pictures by yourself, especially since I've gotten used to someone else taking them.

I'm in the mood for less fuss lately. I haven't bothered with eyeliner in a good two weeks or so (that is probably a terrible misjudgment, it's probably more like several days). I'm taking the minimal approach to hair, letting it go unbrushed and trying to only wash it when it seems like I'm venturing into raised by wolves territory. Aren't we supposed to be hibernating anyway?
And what a lovely uniform it is.

Agreed - as uniforms go, that's certainly a lovely one :) I love the muted colors, and that's rare for me!
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be wonderful if humans would hibernate?! Oh, if only the real world went on hold for winter...

As usual, very well done... and it all looks very warm! :) I'm thinking outside of the box this year about warmth, because being cold is NOT ok!
ReplyDeleteAlso, your hair always looks lovely... I really like the last picture, the pose/expression is delightful! :)
I wish I could leave my hair unbrushed and it would still look as lovely as yours! My hair seems to veer into raised by wolves territory on a fairly regular basis!
ReplyDeleteI have been drawn to muted colors a lot lately which is so unlike me. Maybe I am trying to make up for the lack of wintry weather!
love this ensemble! you look both cozy and adorable!
ReplyDeleteTotally gorgeous! You look warm and super chic. I love everything about this outfit.

Love the new "uniform"! If I could pull the look off, I'd do it in a heartbeat! Winter in the NE is a big dud this year; however, for some reason - maybe it is years of readership - methinks that you do not protest too much! :)
ReplyDeleteI think your uniform looks great! I almost wish that the snow would just pile on already so that I would have an excuse to heap on layers. It just isn't cold enough yet!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this skirt. Love it. One of my favourite materials!! So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteI'd totally hybernate through winter if I could. I love your outfit, it looks perfect for snuggling up with some hot chocolate by the far in a woodland cabin somewhere, preferably with a very thick book.
ReplyDeletefull wool skirts are my favourite ever. this is a gorgeous ensemble!
ReplyDeleteI love the new uniform. It look very warm. I hate being cold & I also sometimes wear 2 sweaters at a time.
ReplyDeleteLove it! The shape on the skirt is perfection.
ReplyDeletei think this outfit is great! considering today is the first day that felt like winter here in VA i haven't done much layering, but i want to!
ReplyDeleteTotally love this outfit! THe colors and materials are just right : )
ReplyDeletei love your uniform! and i totally agree that we should all just hibernate our way through this winter and wake up when it's 70 degrees outside again. ugh. at least you look cozy and cute!

Well, this uniform of yours is so lovely and perfect for winter!

Can you take me thrifting with you? I have been looking for a skirt like this forever! You're the cutest. :)
ReplyDeleteWool does suddenly become wildly appealing in the winter. I'm also finding myself gravitating towards some longer skirts. Yours is lovely.

I have a few uniforms myself this winter, and they involve mid-length vintage skirts and lots and lots of sweaters! My tolerance for cold has also seemed to diminish over time. I now resort to wearing three or more pairs of tights at one time, which is surprisingly warm, and kinda like wearing one of those form shaper things! The best of both worlds! But anyway, I love your outfit! Definitely an excellent uniform to have!

I am terribly envious of your complexion..
ReplyDeleteI have just created a new blog called Drene's Dreams, documenting my dreams accompanied by little doodles. Come have a look :-)

I always hear it's best to not wash hair so often & it looks really pretty so go for it!! Love that thrifted skirt & the neutrals look is great. I also didn't used to worry about being chilly but really layer it up biking around town now.

Of course I can't say this any better than any other girl already has.. but if you're going to have a uniform, it should be one as cute as this. :)
ReplyDeletep.s. I gave you a blog award. :)

the perfect winter uniform! i love the hint of a demin button up poking out from under the sleeves and around the collar. tres chic!
ReplyDeletei think the muted colors are slightly more sophisticated, and really let your skin and hair color (which are both wonderful) really shine. Lovely post!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually in the Albany area and was wondering if you've ever cared to shared where you thrift or catch estate sales. I totally understand if you want to keep them to yourself, but I'd definitely be interested in what you'd have to say.
Thanks.
you're lovely xo

Agreed. The older I get the more miserable I am in cold weather, and the less I want to fuss with my appearance. I really just want to be comfortable and as warm as possible, especially because I am carless and walk everywhere, which can be brutal. You look lovely, by the way. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't quite forgo the eyeliner (my eyes fade away otherwise) but I like your commitment to staying warm! And I love the flashes of blue from the shirt underneath the sweater.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, that was a Game of Thrones reference :)
You may say you haven't been bothered with your hair, but it looks pretty gorgeous to me. Makes me want to cut my hair shorter.
