I bought puke-colored tights. They were the kind of purchase that involved little-to-no thought. I bought them because I loved the color--not even that. I didn't love the color, something about it attracted me to it, even though I had not the foggiest idea what I would wear them with. Since then I've been trying to figure it out. I'm not entirely sure this is successful, but nothing goes with them. Navy might work quite nicely, but I can't seem to find anything navy in my closet that works as I'd like it to. Shoes are a nightmare with this color. Brown only makes it look more unappealing, black is too witchy.
So I figured I'd just go with it, and throw on some of the more obnoxious colors I have and pretend I meant it. There are several colors I love because they are disgusting. Puke green is one of them. I also love that shade of mustard that is more green than yellow. So revolting that it goes all the way around and becomes appealing again.

Trying to spice up my outfit poses. Ashley is the queen of this. Lady can take the silliest and most hilarious poses and still be the most gorgeous creature on the face of the planet.

These were taken shortly before two of the buildings tenants showed up and I wanted to dig a hole and live in it, because somehow there is almost nothing more mortifying (still) than getting caught taking outfit pictures, even if someone else is taking them!
Pictures taken by John.
those tights are a very... interesting color! haha. i actually think they work well with this outfit though! you pull it off!
ReplyDeletenice poses! ;)
xx
Love them!!
ReplyDeleteYou look like you come from a movie these pictures are so great! And I agree the tights are really cool color they work with the outfit!

That dress! I'm dying, is it wool? What a dream. Also, I one million percent agree about getting caught taking outfit photos. Even in my own yard, I feel sheepish thinking my neighbor is hearing waaay too many shutter clicks going off and thinks me vain. Also, that whole gorgeousness comment should be spun in your direction. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteSplendid styling and photos! This dress is fab, and the tights are obviously amazing. I wish I were somewhere cold enough to warrant tights right now.
ReplyDeletei love the puke green haha and it looks really nice against that rich purple.
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this outfit-honestly. I'm also very attracted by unusual color combinations, and I love the purple shoes with the toxic green and orangish coat. The neutral dress breaks it up perfectly. :)
ReplyDeleteYou call them "puke green," I call them "Poison Ivy green." All around a win, I think.
ReplyDeleteK, so lets get a few things straight... I have tights that color and they are awesome, so stop saying that they're disgusting! Also, you bought that dress? I seriously considered buying that a few weeks ago and I'm jealous that you got your mitts on it. Lastly, You look freaking amazing and I'm jealous. That is all.
ReplyDeleteYour newest frenemy,

Wow. I love this whole outfit. When I was a kid, I was banned from wearing purple and green because my mom hated the combination (and I usually ended up looking like Barney) but you make it all work!
ReplyDeleteI think this works quite well. I especially like the purple shoes with them. It also was a good choice to choose a neutral dress.
ReplyDeleteI love this whole outfit, the individual pieces and all together! I know how you feel about the pictures. I've been doing them in a back stairwell, and whenever people come through I do the awkward 'I'm just standing here fiddling with a camera, don't mind me' until they go away.
ReplyDeleteOMG....my bike is the same colour!
ReplyDeletePeople tease me mercilessly, but I bought it specifically because it is, as I call it, "avocado green".
I love, love, love the purple suede - I'd pair the tights with a bold, bright colour on top. Neon purple or electric blue would be my choice. Do you have a neon yellow perhaps? Orange or pink even?
Have fun matching! :)
YOU LOOK AMAZING. i love the color combinations. and the colors of those tights. i keep putting off buying things in that color and in the similar pea green because i feel like it's not versatile. now i want to go for it!
ReplyDeleteYou've done well. Youvemade puke look HOT and now I need a pair too. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the color combinations in this outfit! And also - I *love* those yellow/green colors that you can't define and usually needs a p-word to describe them (I had another than puke in my mind, but yours is slightly less inappropriate for conversations with other people). I'm so glad these muddy colored things are even available to be bought right now.
ReplyDeleteI have same colored tights but I thought about them as like puke green :). anyway I adore your shoes and whole outfit and color palette !
ReplyDeleteSometimes I buy things or try them on just because they are weird or hilarious. My friends don't understand, but I have never regretted buying something weird.
ReplyDeletei love all shades of green and yellow, especially when they mix together and reach that perfectly pukey colour

What a wonderful color!

VERY difficult to pull off, but you obviously manage it! You look lovely in the pictures with the wind blowing
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is amazing! I think it totally works! Love the coat and your poses :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful (gross) color palette. I love this!
ReplyDeleteI think these colours are lovely, and really suit you!
ReplyDeleteFrom Carys of La Ville Inconnue
so great! the colors are amazing, and that dress looks great on you. and your too cute about being embarrassed taking outfit photos... i get that way too!
ReplyDeleteYou are so stunning! I love that shot of you flicking around.
ReplyDeleteAlso - hilarious - I do this, buy yucky things, but I don't think I have ever been brave enough to own it like this! I would try and convince you they are actually a lovely 'moss green'!
ha! i love the tights! they look puce to me, and i love them with the camel colored dress...maybe go all out and wear them with yellow! i love wearing things i think are slightly off.
ReplyDelete-sarah
I love the mossy green puke! That is gorgeous and fab on you, and the windy pictures - love!
ReplyDeleteyou made the tights look amazing! and these are some great photos, totally worth the mortification of getting caught. i hate when people catch me taking photos of myself. embarrassing!
ReplyDeleteOkay, those tights are actually the greatest ever <3 <3 <3 I love your shoes too!

I think the color worked really well! It's a super cute outfit and I didn't even think anything about the color of the tights until I read what you wrote! It looks great! I'm also attracted to tights that don't match anything I own. I bought this pair of really great mustardy gold tights, and it took me a really long time to figure out what to wear it with!
ReplyDelete-Katie
Aw, nah... it's not so bad a color! It's more pea green than puke green. I had some Vans sneakers in high school that were very nearly the same shade. Kids called them my booger green sneakers. Whatev. I loved them.
ReplyDeleteAnyway. Your assemblage of colors here is really lovely whether you meant it or not ;)
i know how you feel re: getting caught taking outfit pictures. i basically get caught every time since im almost always somewhere on the street in brooklyn or manhattan. i feel like a loser haha!
ReplyDeletei wish i was brave enough to pull off colored tights, but alas i am boring and a wimp and stick to black or brown. you look cute!
Haha I think this is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGreat poses!
They may have puke colour, but I love them too. And I love the other colours you paired the with, overall amazing.
ReplyDeleteActually I am loving this green!
ReplyDeleteLooks fun with purple shoes but I see your doubt. I owned a weird dead-rat colored cardigan and I had no idea what to do with so - so I got rid of it. Yay! Have a nice week xx
absolutely awesome. I am very much drawn to ugly-pretty tights as well and you work these to perfection, even if it is a hard task to make puke tights work!
ReplyDeleteThe tights totally remind me of pea soup!!! And I love them with the red coat and purple shoes, all the girls in Istanbul were doing that when I was there in Feb. and its so envy inducing when I see girls who can pull it off to perfection!!! I LOVE THIS!!! Totally saving it to my inspiration files.
ReplyDeleteThese colors are so gorgeous together! Purple, red, beige, and puke green! I just pinned your photo :)
ReplyDeleteLike the whole outfit, I think it looks great. I completely understand getting caught taking outfit shots. Happened to me this weekend and I tried to act (badly) like everything was normal.
ReplyDelete"disgusting colors"--- haha! i'm way into this whole ensemble, girl!
ReplyDeleteThese 'disgusting' colours are really quite lovely! i love the green with the purple shoes. The combination of shades makes me think of oil paints mixed on a palette, rich, thick, complex. Amazing! x
ReplyDeletebeautiful, I love the colour contrasts and the shoes <3
ReplyDeleteHaha, indeed, the color is so disgusting, yet such a lovely outfit you put together!
ReplyDeletethey are an odd colour for any type of clothing -however you totally rock these tights with this outfit! :)
ReplyDeleteHeh, I have a puke green obsession too. I actually had the saem reaction to those tights and bought them with little or no thought the other week. I like your outfit better, but here is how I styled them:

This look is fabulous. I love your color aesthetic.
ReplyDeletei like to call my puke colored tights pea soup. the color on the pack was "burnished olive," a color which i have in a few other items, but yes, in tights form it takes on a different tone. do try navy; it definitely works!
ReplyDeleteDue to the title of your blog I had expected topics similar to those discussed at my blog.
ReplyDeleteEven though this was not the case I do have to say, "not to snazzy"! I like your creative spin on creating a blog and it seems to be working for you. I wish you the best of luck, maybe I'll send my fiance here for some style tips!
First off I love the tights and that's so funny because I live on Madison and my friend lives near the apartment you were standing next to! Oh, Smalbany =D
ReplyDeleteI dig em.
ReplyDeleteI cant wait for this month's update :) I currently work from home so I usually pass by this site.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your mac! I know mine can be bothersome at times, too! Also, I love the photographs of your room! It looks like a wonderful little sanctuary.
