I get fixated on things. This extends to books and movies, wanting to be inside a world so thoroughly that it becomes something I have to keep myself from talking about every moment of every day, but also ends up materializing in little things like which teacup I use, or, of course, whatever I end up wearing.
Which is why I'm posting this silly dress again.

Outfit details: dress: J. Crew; shoes: Urban Outfitters; bag: vintage; watch: mom's; sunglasses: forever21
Like this dress. It really is my summer bff. I knew it was going to be some kind of love affair when I first got it, but it's been much better than I ever imagined it would be. I've worn it several times, and so far it's become my go-to summer dress when I don't know what to wear but know that I want to feel a certain way.

I think it's something that happens a lot with clothes. Since starting this blog it's waned a bit (of course I still have my favorites, but they don't get the kind of constant wear they might have if I wasn't trying to think of new things to wear) but I used to wear one particular shirt or sweater with almost obsessive constancy. In particular I had a blouse that was green, with little pink flowers on it, that I think I wore until the stupid thing fell apart (it wouldn't button anymore anyway). Before that, it was a red sweater with an argyle print across the chest that I think I hated when I first got it, but then wore for days and weeks straight. I really hated when it was in the laundry because it meant I had to come up with something else that day.
Oddly enough, I have very few pictures of either of these things.

I should probably get another one, because I'll be very sad when something happens to this one. In the meantime, my Remus Lupin shoes are getting lots of wear, and I love them to a million little shoe-pieces!

that dressed deserved an encore! you look adorable.
ReplyDeletei WISH i had this dress because i would wear it every day too!
ReplyDeleteI love those unexpected pieces that pipe up and suddenly demand to be in high rotation :)
ReplyDeleteLove that dress and I especially love your shoes, how it has two colours instead of just one, like the usual oxfords!

I am exactly the same as you!! I always think its funny when friends tell me that they bought something and haven't worn it yet as its too posh. . . .when I buy something I love its worn until it falls apart!!!

i wish I could find a dress like yours for myself, it really does look like the perfect summer dress
ReplyDeleteI really know what you mean about favourite things, although i tend to do the opposite and 'save' them for special occasions only, therefore they don't get worn enough. This is such a lovely light summer dress, I like it with the brogues too.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean!
ReplyDeletePretty pictures!

Ah you're so cool! I end up getting angry with the clothes I wear allllll the time because I wish I had more things that I could just throw on and be happy in
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to have a go-to dress that makes you feel pretty.
ReplyDeleteThis one is so lovely. I'm actually super happy to see it again. haha.
And those shoes....
At least you look like a beautiful doll in the dress. If you look good, feel pretty, then what else matters?
ReplyDeleteI find myself drawing the same dresses, the same hats, the same lipsticks, in the same week.
Sometimes I feel so bad! But if it's love, don't fight it.. right ^.^
sweetness xx
hope to hear from you*!

Oh wow, I just love the dress!! It's 3/4 sleeves are just so lovely (especially for a girl who avoids the sun)!
ReplyDeleteHowever, those shoes steal the limelight for me. I. WANT. THEM.
Now please. :)
This dress looks ideal !
ReplyDeleteha, I do this especially with films and music - if I find a song I like I'll listen to it on repeat for *hours*. Glad to know I'm not the only obsessive!
ReplyDeleteI think that i would have to wear this dress everyday too. It is very similar to my dream dress, which i have (almost) purchased a thousand times, only to later realize that I had not quite come close to it. I love the fit and length also.
ReplyDeleteI am similar with distraction, forgetting older stuff because of the quest to find new things. And i have been really trying to temper this lately, to reunite with the trusted old loves in my wardrobe, to maybe wear the stuff that actually suits me more often, instead of becoming distracted by newness.
oh, your watch is so great! Mine has stopped ticking, and i need to get a new battery. Its a great little detail.
ReplyDeleteThat dress is absolutely gorgeous. I have so many items I wear over and over again. I think my black & white polka dot skirt is one item I would wear all week if my colleagues didn't think it was a bit scruffy haha.
ReplyDeletenice look!
