Even Legs Get the Blues.



It's been a while since I've been able to take some proper outfit pictures. Most of the time I just want to stay inside, where there is no light, wearing as many blankets as possible and sliding through the house like some weird amoeba. The time spent outside is mostly scurrying from one doorway to the next, with occasional bursts of flinging oneself inside the car to escape the cold (which isn't really so bad as just really uncomfortable).




This is my favorite coat of all time. I don't know what I will do when it gives in and becomes decrepit.





The original plan was to take pictures by the movie theater, but I chickened out when I saw a guy patrolling the parking lot. It's been a while, and I feel like a weirdo posing for pictures like I'm some kind of awesome. So we headed over to one of the local private high schools, since it was Sunday and cold, so no one would be around. I can walk there from my house, but I haven't been in years! Not since track meets and meeting friends anyway.

The real exciting thing though, is my mini meow tote from fieldguided!





I had been secretly pining away for one for weeks, waiting for payday and then forgetting and buying cake and dresses instead. I'm such a sucker for tote bags--I have, I think, given up on actual purses and have thrown myself body-and-soul into tote-bag-collecting--and this one is kitty themed! There are others in the shop as well, so everyone ought to order away, but not too much, because I may need to treat myself to one of the lyric totes, or another meow if I manage to destroy this one.

The problem with tote bags, is they are often large, and I will pack them with extra shoes, cameras, books, planners, pens, cosmetics, a pair of socks just in case, sometimes a different blouse in case I change my mind later, and occasionally an apron if I'm going to work. Also, lunch. I'm trying to carry less, and so a smaller bag seems the best way to do so, and to not sling things on my shoulders. Eventually I will be lopsided if I keep my habits going!

  9. I am tote bag obsessed but can never get my hands on any good one. I like the simplest kinds like yours. They are just so easy to use and effortless. No need to fuss unlike those huge leather ones. :)

  10. I really love tote bags, but I find if they are ones without long handles and I have to carry them they drive me insane. Also, have a tendency like you to carry the world around with me, and it all gets lost in the depths of the bag! But that Meow one is great. You look so lovely here, there's a definite Mad Men vibe but then you've made it a bit funky with the blue tights and leopard print shoes.

Oh maybe another day you can take photos in front of the Theater :) Your coat is indeed super beautiful! and be careful with your back, having a heavy bag is not that healthy, i try always to only use my small leader purse, but when i have to go to the atelier... voilá 5 extra kilos of material... best wishes from Ghent!!***

    I love your coat! The coloured tights add a nice touch to the outfit.

    I only own one tote bag, but it's the one bag I always use most - it feels like there's always room for more things to fit into it! I really should get more.

  29. Girl, you are working the bow, bangs and bag! I love Field Guided's kitty obsession also--it really resonates!
    I have to be careful with tote bags--My favorite Leonard Cohen tote always ends up bringing me shoulder pain, simply because it fits my laptop, at least two books, a snack and a sweater.

  34. We have TOO MUCH IN COMMON. I've been totally hiding inside and just darting around when I'm forced to go somewhere. And I do the same with tote bags, although I only have one that I love (green with pink flamingos) but I'm very tempted to buy super pretty ones after seeing yours. They're just so USEFUL. I jam pack mine full of things and then they're all bulgy and not so cute.

    And I LOVE this whole look btw, the hair and tights and shoes, soso pretty!
