The Winter Slump.

Ahh! I am in it. I guess it has something to do with classes starting in two weeks (my first graduate classes, I'm terrified!) and the impending doom of being unemployed. Most depressing is the event that looms over my weekend: I am having my wisdom teeth removed on Monday. I am dreading it, even though I have been reassured by many that all will be well, I cannot shake the feeling of dread at my body being incapacitated in any way.

Hello, new glasses!

Mostly, dressing is a problem and I notice how very close my feelings of comfort and confidence are entwined with how I feel about what I'm wearing. Perhaps I am sleeping in too much and eating too much candy! In any case, let's not worry about it. Soon all will be back to usually scheduled things, and the posts will come rolling down hills.

  1. Oh how I envy you your lovely glasses! And hair. I need to do something with my hair, pronto.

I hope your teef do not keep you down for long luff, from what I have observed the doom does not last forever afterwards.

  6. I hope everything looks brighter soon. I've had a similarly slumpy start to my New Year, too. :(

Getting your wisdom teeth out really isn't too bad. I've had three of mine done, and it wasn't incapacitating at all.

  8. Very cute glasses, and hurrah for the striped top (I've been waring stripes a lot lately, I might be obsessed). I hope all goes well with the teeth, Imust admit I changed dentists to avoid having to get mine removed.

  12. This is maybe late but here's what you're going to expect on the wisdom teeth removal front. I will assume all four are going like mine did, and to be honest, it only hurts when the freezing wares off. And it's a sort of aching, throbbing kind of pain. Blood and saliva dribbles down your mouth and you won't even know it. You're mouth area feels like a house when it's probably only slightly swollen, don't take all the medication they give you for pain - only take it when it hurts. Eat lots of jello, ice cream, etc and wear your most comfy sweats. Good luck.

  13. Forgot to add:

Please don't worry. It doesn't hurt as much as some say it will, it's more of the disgusting stuff coming out of your mouth and how it feels bigger then it actually is. Your glasses are fantastic.

  16. Kater,
I hope that you are well and that having your wisdom teeth pulled was not too traumatic.
I just want you to know how much I appreciated you taking the time to stop by my blog and leave me such a nice comment. It feels wonderful knowing that I could inspire someone who is as stylish and intelligent as yourself!
I see that you are looking upon the start of grad school with a bit of dread-- which is totally natural. Starting graduate school is a huge transition but before you know it, you're totally into the flow of things and it is so incredibly fulfilling. I loved it-- meeting new people with very similar interests, incredibly stimulating conversation in and out of the classroom, challenging myself to always do my best work. It was actually quite thrilling. I see from reading your posts and the way you seem to approach everything that you will be perfectly cut our for the challenge. In short, I think that you are going to have a BLAST!
Well, please keep an eye on my blog. I've linked you and I am thrilled that you are willing to link me, too.
Please drop me a line at thriftonista@gmail.com should you ever see anything that you are interested in or if you ever need anything or have any questions. I would be very excited to hook you up with a fabulous vintage or retro piece at an incomparable price.
    Take care, honey!
